What a crazy month November has been.

The world seems to have gone upside down. The crush of people at the concert in Houston at Astroworld where people were so excited to gather together they pushed and pushed. and didn’t stop until ten people died.  Travis Scott was performing and never stopped it until it was too late. How clueless can you be to stand on a stage and watch the crowd crushing forward? Drake the Canadian Rapper was also on the stage when this tragedy took place.

Then mother nature unleashed her fury upon the coast of BC and the already ravaged areas inland. Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Princeton, Merrett and Lytton were swallowed up by the rising water from the atmospheric river that flowed down upon the southern half of British Columbia.

Landslides devastated all the roads leading to Vancouver. Amidst that destruction, four people lost their lives to an unstable mountainside on highway 99 north of Whistler. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for those people that were swept away in a matter of seconds.

In the heat of early summer, many of these same areas suffered from drought and fires. Climate change sure appears to be a real thing for the people of BC.

It sure seemed real to me and my friends when we got stranded in Vancouver by all the road closures.

Chaos seemed to be the word of the month.

Worst than that far too many people lost their lives.

Then an unthinkable situation happened. A man used an SUV as a weapon to mow down over fifty people at a Christmas parade. Five people died and fourty-eight were injured. I feel my stomach lurch at the thought of a vehicle barreling down the road running over innocent people during a Christmas parade.

If you want any more happy news, Covid 19 still lurks in the background. Overshadowed by recent events it’s still there in our lives. We still need to be wary. In parts of Europe, they are locking back down to curb the spread of the viral foe.

And it’s only November 22. I hope the rest of the month will be better. We could all use some good things to happen now.

My next blog will be a much happier story I’m sure.
