Isolation

Published by Victor Barr on

He sits alone in self-isolation

told to stay away, keep distanced

moments of doubt

surging feelings of desolation

She is right there, so close

                                              so far

It feels like a painful dance

he can’t get inside her space

it feels so strange

a result of viral happenstance

now they stay alone apart, so near

                                                         so distant

He aches inside from lost connections

No touching, no hugging

searching for missing feelings

lost in a world full of infections

he yearns to feel her touch, so warm

                                                         so cold

Feelings of anxious desperation

they look into each other’s eyes

across the spaces, filled with fear

separated, together in isolation.

looking forward to reconnecting, so far

                                                           so close
