Mother

Published by Victor Barr on

Life dawned warmly for me
My first memory
Her smiling face
Sending me love

She was the epitome of caring
Always loving; always sharing
Showing me joy
Ridding my pain

Deep within our hearts we see,
That life would not be;
Without sadness
Without gladness

Her love brought
warmth
Her caring brought
joy

Memories
Haunt through my brain
I see her smiling face again

She shared herself
Always giving
She showed us love
Full of living

She enjoyed the quieter things
The white frosting of the trees
The beauty as a sparrow sings
And the musical whistling
of the morning breeze

Like all mothers
she worried
life was to be lived
not hurried

And lo she is gone
We must carry on
Remember her strength
And draw from it

The gap she leaves
Is wide
and long
time
the only bridging of it

And deep within our hearts
There is a special place
Her smile
Her laugh
Her spirit
Live on
Forever
