January 14, 2022 Barrman Stays In Mexico

Barrman’s mind spun in confusion. How the hell did he contract the dreaded covid? In the back of his mind he knew it wasn’t all that surprising. But still what did he do to deserve it? Well, if he really thought about it the list was pretty long. Starting with the fact he should have stayed the hell away from the nightlife of Cabo San Lucas. None of that mattered now.  Now Barrman had to stay in Mexico and wait. Read more…

January 12, 2022 Sweet 16

A piercing cry shattered the silence, but it was a cry that held a mix of fear and joy. I came in the room and there you were. Balling, and squirming. The cry shook me and I didn’t know what to do.  So I held out my finger and you reached for it. You grabbed it and held on. In that instance you stopped the cacophony of sound. There was nothing but silence. A warmth enveloped me. You held on Read more…

Jan 11, 2022 Mexican Quarantine

My first day in Mexican quarantine passed slowly. I felt fine physically – mentally not so much. I was very lucky and happy that I managed to find a good place to stay. Even if it was the second place I booked. The place had everything I needed. Laundry facility, clean bed and at TV with YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime.  I haven’t watched that much TV since I don’t remember when. I felt healthy except for the diarrhea but Read more…

January 9, 2022 Stuck in Mexico

Positive.  A word and a feeling I have always tried to pursue. I haven’t always been very good at it but I have tried. Now it is a word that I read with dread. My daughter and my wife got their covid test results by email first. It was our last night in Mexico, we were scheduled to fly home at three o’clock the next day. It had been a wonderful nine days of fun in the sun.  Where were Read more…

Jan 8, 2022 Sunrise

The surf crashed on the sand, overhead the sky was a canvas of colours. Gold, red and blue painted the horizon above the Sea of Cortez. With each wave that washed upon the beach the painting overhead changed. Tendrils of cloud caressed the blue of the sky while the sun crept ever skyward.  Renewal. Every second and every moment brought a constant change into the world. In a moving picture of light the glory of the sunrise spoke volumes to  Read more…

Jan 1 – 7 – 2022

What a week it has been. I am going to need time off to recover from my holiday. That is the way it usually goes when I spend time on vacation.  Go go go. What an amazing amount of memories we have created for my family. We spent too much time wandering the bar strip of Cabo and the beaches of the Baja. Ziplines and Camels. Music and laughter – it has been fun.  I just hope we don’t pay Read more…

Jan 5 2022 Cabo Wabo

I wish I was writing about seeing Sammy Hagar play at the Cabo Wabo. I wish I was celebrating one last night in Cabo.  Wishes are for fishes. Sometimes you catch them and sometimes you don’t. More often you are left empty handed and disappointed. Tonight we got to the front of the line. And that was it. They promised us they would let us in next, when someone left we were in. But then someone left and we didn’t Read more…

Jan 2, 2022 Wild Canyon

I never thought I would ride a camel. But there I was teetered on top the exotic beast, swaying with the movement of his steps. The animal moved in line with the one in front of him. My only thought was the poor beast must be tired of carrying people for a short ride through the bottom of this canyon. We plodded along for about fifteen minutes and got back off the humped creature. If the ride had ended then Read more…

Jan 1, 2022, Cabo – a place that still has fun

Music pulsed into the night air. The sound of drums, guitars and voices echoed into the dark. We sat on our balcony and could feel the energy of the city, the air was alive. I felt alive. Cabo San Lucas is a town like no other. Las Vegas has it’s casino’s and LA has the Sunset Strip but downtown Cabo exudes a vibe, an energy that infects the soul. I looked at my daughter and my wife and smiled. Should Read more…

December 31, 2021 Goodbye 2021

The lights danced in the sky. Above our heads little beacons of colour formed shapes over the glittering water of the Sea of Cortez. It was a spectacular end to a year that most of us would sooner forget. Goodbye, 2021. And good riddance. Here’s to a new beginning and a new year. Happy New Year to everyone.  I felt so lucky to be on the beach in Cabo San Lucas for the end of what has been one of Read more…
