January 21, 2026 Mark Carney and Donald Trump a Tale of Two Leaders.

Davos Switzerland.

A Canadian takes the stage. Mark Carney spoke at the World Economic Forum yesterday, January 20, 2026. He talked about a new world order, a time where things are changing, and a rupture has occurred. A change has taken place in the rules-based system we’ve lived in since the end of World War 2.

The words were clear, the message was real and concise. Canada is on the world stage to connect with other like-minded countries. Middle powers will take their place in the world as a strong and stable pact of nations. Canada will lead the way.

The words were inspiring and they kept the rapt attention of those in the audience. Canada will not be pushed around. Without saying it, America has been put on notice. We will not be bullied.

The only way to deal with a bully is not to be pushed around.

At the end of the speech, the room erupted in applause. Mark Carney was one of the few leaders who’ve been given a standing ovation on this stage. A stage that he owned. A leader who stood there and made sense, and everyone knew Canada was a real power in the world.

The day ended with hope.

And fear.

Everyone knew who was coming the next day.

Donald Trump walked into the room. He began to speak, and he proceeded to brag about America. He took the stage like a loudmouthed, arrogant American. His lies began. He claimed that everything in the US was wonderful. The economy was booming. Gas was at $ 1.99 – yet that was a lie. Gas is at $ 3.90.

So many lies.

So much bluster. President Trump bragged and lied. He said things that made little sense and was very offensive toward his hosts. He told everyone that the world goes as America goes. The economy of America drives the world. Yet this is hardly true. China, Asia, and Europe are strong and have just as much influence on the world economy.

But he continued to ramble.

Continued to lie.

His claim that Canada would not exist without Trump, is offensive and completely false. The man lies every second he speaks. He continues to claim that the election in 2020 was rigged and threatens Greenland.

More Rambling lies.

The United States is not the centre of the universe. Trump thinks it is.

Yet there were flashes of things he said that made sense. Yes, the US did pay more for NATO, and they saved Europe in WW2, but they have also done a lot of evil things in the world since then. Why has the US not made more effort to eliminate war? Because the war industry is huge money.

Then he rambled on and on. He wants Iceland, er, actually Greenland.

Then he lied again.

Not sure NATO would be there for the US, he says. Yet the only time a call has gone out to NATO it was on September 11, 2001, when they went to war in the Middle East. NATO was there to support the US.

And he rambled on.

Is Donald Trump in his right mind? The speech makes me wonder.

A tale of two leaders.

Mark Carney, in seventeen minutes, said a volume that resonated not just with me but with the world.

Donald Trump rambled on for well over an hour and made me afraid.

my father said to me” your role as the big brother is to set a good example for others to look up to..”and yet, in his older years, as the youngest of four brothers, it was he, who brought logic to the table, after watching his older brothers bicker and fight all his life,
