March 23, 2023 The first draft is complete.
It was March 23, 2020 and I just finished a walk with some dear friends at Big White. I sat down and wrote my first journal entry. My wife said I should share it on Facebook. I thought, hey why not? The reaction was very positive. So the next day I wrote another one.
On my fiftieth birthday April 3, I published my Blog.
Now here we are three years later.
One of the best things that came out of the coronaverse for me personally was the inspiration to begin my blog. After a lot of encouragement, I decided to pursue my new career as a writer.
On March 23, 2023, I finished the first draft of my novel.
It is a fantastic feeling to have pushed through and written my first book. I hope it is the first of many. It is a thriller about a high-rise window cleaner who witnesses a murder inside a high-end condo complex in Calgary. I was told to write what I know. I have never seen a murder, but I spent many years as I high-rise window cleaner in Calgary.
I’m very excited to have finally pushed through and followed my passion. I’ve wanted to write a book since I was a young teenager in Cowtown. I have shared a few chapters from the book on the blog and will share some more. They have changed since I first shared and I imagine they will change some more before the book is published.
Because it will get published.
Even if I have to publish it online myself. I am very optimistic that a publisher will read the novel and take a chance on it. Not that I want to jinx it but I think it is good enough to garner some attention.
If you’ve been wondering where my blogging has been over the last few months I have spent a lot of time writing, just not as much on the blog.
It’s been nice to see the world get back to some semblance of normal. My life will never be normal again – for that I’m grateful.
I’ll share some stats on my blog since I began writing on March 23, 2020.
I have averaged over 200 hits per day, even when I don’t publish anything. Last week was 2560, last month 9102 and since I began writing it there have been over 221,000 hits. For that, I thank everyone who comes back to share my musings.
So continue to come visit. I will keep writing. I have a lot more stories to tell.
