Feb 6, 2023 Just Another Monday

Monday musings from my blog.

It was a Monday thirty-five months ago when the world changed.  A change that has had far-reaching consequences, consequences we still don’t know the end of.

Will we ever?

Yes, Covid19 came along and put a wrench into our lives. But the changes have been so much more. And so much worse than anyone could have imagined. Were these changes because of covid or have they merely been sped up and exasperated by the pandemic?

The price of everything has gone through the roof.  Some of that was a direct result of the pandemic. Others have resulted from a chain of events that no one could have predicted or prepared for. Who knew the Suez Canal would be closed for a week due to a poor decision by a boat captain? Who could have predicted the worldwide shortage of silicon, which in turn drove the prices of everything computerized through the roof. There was also an ice storm in Texas that caused s shortage of aluminum—resulting in the cost of anything built with aluminum going up as well.

And of course, the cost of housing went through the stratosphere.

This was all stuff that was going up before the viral foe of covid reared its ugly head.

It all spiraled out of control.

What does the government do to fix things? By making stuff cost even more by raising interest rates. Nothing makes any sense to me anymore.

So I sit here on another Monday and think about all that has changed in the world since that fateful Monday on March 16, 2020. As Mr. Churchill once said – a day that will live in infamy.

Yet the important things in life remain the same: family, friends, and a powder day at the ski hill. Ok, at least for me, those are the most important things this time of year. For others, the important things can vary. Still the story remains the same, life isn’t about all the fluff and all the things we own. It is about the people we love and the things we love to do. If you don’t have either in your life I feel sorry for you. I wish you well and hope you can find something or someone to love.

Love is what it’s all about.

I was riding the chair lift with my friend and we agreed; life is about the simple moments in time: a fresh powder turn, a glimpse of bright sunshine, and good company to share the moments with.

The last thirty-five months have changed many things in the world. All we can do is embrace the things that matter. Live life the best we can and love everything to the fullest.

Everything else will fall into place.
