May 8, 2022 Mother’s Day

Published by Victor Barr on

Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful women out there who are or have been moms. It is one of the few random days that have been created that I support with all my heart.

Even though on this day my heart is heavy.

This past week I lost my birth mom to cancer. I was very fortunate to know her for the last seventeen years. Life has its array of gifts and knowing her was certainly a great gift for me. After losing my adoptive mom when I was nineteen, meeting her was a bonus I could have never expected.

Now they have both passed beyond my mortal reach.

My daughter is lucky to have two loving mothers in her life as well. My wife and partner for the last dozen years and her birth mom. Both love her very much even though my wife has the title of “step” mom. My daughter was so very wonderful to buy them both very nice gift baskets filled with love.

I am very proud of my daughter who is blossoming into a young woman.

My wife has her mom still and at 88 years young she is still going strong.

It is for these women I can celebrate today. And give pause in remembrance of the mothers we have lost.

Lost but never forgotten.

My moms are still with me, they continue to be a part of me. I will take them with me until the end of my days. I don’t know if there is an afterlife or there is a heaven or hell. But I do know that I can feel their presence inside my heart and their spirit in my soul.

The cycle of life keeps turning.

A huge part of that is to cherish every moment with those you love. If there is anything they taught me was not to live life too fast and to enjoy every moment.

Happy Mother’s Day to moms everywhere. And show your mom you love them on mother’s day and every other day of the year.
