The three-man band looked out at the group of revelers dancing to their musical ministrations. They felt an energy and a connection that lifted their spirits and filled their souls.

It was nice seeing their faces beam to the rhythm of the music. The bar was filled with people who have been missing the wonderful connection live music creates.

The band has been missing that connection too.

Now they were back. And like the song says – what a feeling, what a rush…

The return to live music has seen the band members reunite over the past few months. First, it was an acoustic set where Brad and Mike strummed their hearts out. It felt good but when they looked at the dance floor the people swaying to the music were still wearing masks.

Then the province lifted restrictions and it was time to plug in and bring Massimo in on the drum kit.

A feeling was there and it was building.

When the masks came off the musical joy lifted to another level. It was soo good to see everyone’s smiling faces.

Time flew by in a rush of rhythm that lifted the room to a higher level. People sang along and jumped to the dance floor where they swayed to the music. The last two years were washed away with an evening of joy.

Music has a way of connecting people.

They didn’t want it to end.

The three friends finished playing what was supposed to be the last song and they reluctantly began to put away their instruments.

Until it started with a single voice tinged with hope, “one more song!” In an instant, a second voice joined the chorus. Then more chimed in. The next thing they knew the crowd was chanting for more.

“One more song!”

The band looked at each other and grinned. One more song indeed.

And why not extend the feeling for a few more minutes. It was like the last two years were washed away in those moments of glory.

The band played on…

Whiski Jacks Pub was alive for an evening of musical joy. It was the start of many more weeks of celebration. Linus will return and so will many other bands in the local scene. The past two years have been some of the darkest hours for live music.

But the future is bright.

As the last notes echoed through the barroom the people cheered. The friends on stage soaked in the feeling shared by everyone in the room. It was a feeling of connection and a shared joy that music brings.
