Apprehension and excitement surge through my viens. I feel my insides pulse and my stomach flips.

T minus 16 hours and counting.

Cabo San Lucas here we come. so many mixed emotions and desires. Traveling in the Coronaverse is like nothing I have ever done before. I have never felt this much anxiety and excitement the night before a big trip.

The world feels crazy right now.

I can’t wait to escape the bitter cold and go to the sunny climes of Mexico.

They say that the case counts are low in Cabo, Omnicron hasn’t run rampant like it hs in other parts of the world. Or are they just not testing as much.

Whatever the case may be we are going to go to summer.

And in summer covid was a distant echo. I hope it becomes one when we get to our destination.

Our plane leaves at 6:00 am. Yikes! But that does mean we will be on the beach by 4:00 pm – I hope.

I hope we avoid the dreaded viral foe, I hope we can get a rental car, I hope our planes are on time, I hope I can sleep tonight…

I hope.

Hope is our ally right now.. Like adventurers, we go into the unknown.

I have agonized over whether to rent a car, waited on hold for a long time, talked to the guy from the dollar rental car that said the rental was $ 338. First Canadian dollars then pesos then US dollars plus taxes and fees, plus insurance. The dreaded insurance.

We made our final choice that we would rent a car and hope…

We know they will charge us for the mandatory insurance –  acceptance has set us free.  We wanted freedom so went for the rental instead of cabs. With the new surge in covid it felt safer to avoid public transit.

No matter what happens, in less than twelve hours now – the adventure begins.

Baja California here we come.
