October 11, 2021 Thanksgiving Monday

Published by Victor Barr on

It was the second Thanksgiving living in the coronaverse. A day to reflect on all we have to be thankful for.

I am thankful for my family. My wife is a wonderful woman who is my rock, I don’t know what I would do without her. My daughter is a beautiful girl who is searching for herself in the chaos of the new world she is growing up in. I miss my Dad and dream of him often. My sister is in Calgary and I wish her the best in life. I wish I could spend more time with the family I have left. My biological Mom on the Island and biological dad in Nelson were a gift that I appreciate as time passes by. Same too for my biological sisters and brother. What a great fortune I have that I met them and have gained a connection with my blood, with my soul.

I am thankful for my health – such as it is. Despite my aches and pains, I have lived to my age without disease or devastation.  Now is the time to work on myself… before it is too late.

I am thankful for my friends, near and far. Some who I see all the time and others I only connect with on Facebook or the odd call. I was fortunate to connect with one of my best friends this past weekend and it was like we were never apart. I am happy that I live in the Okanagan but I do miss my friends in Calgary. I keep in my heart those friends I have lost as well. Even the ones I have lost to covid conspiracy and division. I hope one day I can reconnect with them.

I am thankful for my home and neighbourhood. I am very lucky to have found such a great place to live in the Okanagan and such a great street to live on. I would not want to live anyplace else, West Kelowna is a fantastic city in an awesome province in the best country in the world. What more could I ask for? I have a lake to play in in the summer and a ski hill to play on in the winter.

On this Thanksgiving Monday, I am thankful for the vast bounty that has been bestowed upon me. Nothing is perfect and neither am I.

All I can do is keep living my best life… keep living the dream.

Have a fantastic Thanksgiving Monday and remember to be thankful for what you have.
