January 6 peaceful? Transition of power…

Published by Victor Barr on

“Capitol under siege” the headline screamed on the TV screen. Our world was rocked again by the news that unfolded today in the US capitol. Rioters stormed the capitol building and American democracy was under fire today. I wish I was more surprised this happened, after the last six weeks of misinformation and claims of cheating, I almost expected it. Trump incited his people to attack and disrupt the certification of the election.

Of the three former presidents’ still alive, George Bush the Republican one said best, “This is how elections are decided in a banana republic, not our democratic republic.”

My stomach is churning as I write this. How could our wonderful neighbours south of us degenerate into such chaos?

I hope that when the morning comes America will return to sanity. Unprecedented times continue into 2021. It can’t get much worse.

It can only get better.

I trust there are enough good people that are disgusted by this. It feels like an addict that needs to go to the lowest depths before turning their life around. Maybe this is the low point needed to finally learn.

Enough is enough.
