Groundhog Day. It’s as if we are living in the movie Groundhog Day. Every day feels the same this week. I turn on the TV and there it is; election results. The same election results, no clear winner has been declared.

Then there he is, the sitting president of the United States, spewing off about how the election is being stolen from him. Complaining like a schoolboy that lost the election for school president. But this isn’t high school, this is the biggest election of the year for the leadership of the so-called free world. This is a time when America should be a beacon for democracy and justice. Unfortunately, America is failing and falling. It’s leadership in shambles, the incumbent president is acting like a spoiled rich kid. I hoped beyond hope he could act with some class and dignity. I really wanted to see some good in the mess that has unfolded in this election in the coronaverse.

I try to change the channel and find other news. I search for some light at the end of the tunnel. We race down a tunnel of viral infections that have circled the globe. It has sent us headlong on a train of confusion and uncertainty. The second wave continues and I can’t help the feeling of dejavu, I sit and watch the movie we are in keep going in a circle of insanity.

I wanted to write about good triumphing over evil. I wanted to write about how America has moved forward from division and fear. I wanted to be in a place of calm, a place where the world will travel on a path toward normalcy. Now I write about the repeat button we seem to be stuck on. I hope tomorrow when my alarm goes off, I will awake to a new song.

I hope to hear a song of love, a song of peace. I hope to hear millions of voices singing in harmony. I know the reality is far removed from my dream. It’s all we can do.

Dare to dream…
