Rain, rain go away, come again some other day.

The old catchphrase could not have felt more appropriate this morning. After one of the wettest first two weeks of June in memory, the sun came out and it looked as if summer was primed to arrive in our corner of the world.

It was not to be.

I took my boat out for a tour in the warm rays of sun and when I got home I didn’t put the cover on her. I had a tour the next day so why bother? Captain Rob warned me there was rain in the forecast, but my weather rock said it was sunny out. My weather rock is not very accurate apparently. But my faith in forecasters and the so-called experts has been shaken in the last couple years so why bother covering the boat?

Another first-world problem.

The night before my first-world problems were of a different kind. I was back int the rafters of Prospera Place. I worked taking the equipment out of the high steal for the Cirque Du Soliel show. Things went better this time and I walked out the door at 11:30pm. It was a much faster tear down than the set-up.

I got on my bike and the rain began to fall. By the time I got home it was raining steady. To my chagrin I looked at the boat uncovered in my yard and groaned. Not much to do but go to bed.

I checked the weather and sure enough there it was in bold red letters across the top of the page – heavy rainfall warning for the interior of BC. I guess ignoring the experts wasn’t the best idea.

At least all this rain should keep down the fires.

It certainly is keeping up the lake levels. When we cruised the glassy waters yesterday you could see the docks were only inches above the lake. Where would all this rain falling from the sky go?

Our climate is definitely changing, despite what many doubters say. From Heat domes to atmospheric rivers – at least the media have come up with a bunch of fancy new labels to put on all this crazy weather we are getting

The forecast calls for two more days of rain, I will believe them and not ride my motorcycle to Penticton for work today.

It’s time to carry on and sing the old mantra; rain, rain go away, I hope to see a sunny day.
