MMMM chocolate, luscious, delicious chocolate. A dark whiskey truffle from Daniels chocolate melted in my mouth as I savoured every second. I resisted the desire to bite down; I held my mouth still and allowed the flavour to seep into my senses.
It was five minutes of pure decadent enjoyment. Even after the last drops of chocolate disappeared the flavour remained. Echoes of deep chocolate taste coated my palate and I wanted more. The box of chocolates remained close but unattainable.
My wife shared her valentines gift of decadent dark chocolate whiskey truffle with me. It would not be a good idea to steal another one. Good thing fear and common sense kept me in check…
In life, we have our forbidden pleasures. Chocolate is one of mine, I have a tough time buying a chocolate bar and not eating the whole thing in one sitting. My weakness is dark chocolate. Add some nuts like almonds or hazelnuts and self-control can escape me.
With no concerts, no travel, no parties or even dancing, we deserve whatever pleasure we can find. I laughed with my honey that we have been reduced to finding our fulfillment in food.
Of course, my waistline isn’t helped by my new-found culinary skills. My experimental adventure in food was rewarded by a simple single delicious ball of chocolate pleasure. I served baked Salmon and we finished our evening with a single taste of heaven. Date night in covid keeps us at home and finding new ways to remain engaged.
Food is one way to connect with each other and ourselves. The coronaverse has limited our life to small bites of pleasure.
In a moment of pure escape, I connected with a melting piece of dark chocolate truffle and let the world around me vanish.
