Summer arrived in all it’s rainy glory. Alas on the first official day of summer the mysterious golden globe in the sky made a rare appearance in our valley.
What a difference a year makes.
One year ago we were “suffering” in what the so-called experts termed a heat dome. When I was young we called it a heat wave. I’m not sure what changed to make it a heat dome but the results were the same.
Man, was it hot.
Now – not so much.
Suddenly the forecast called for warmer temperatures. In the pre-covid, forest fire, reactionary world the forecast would have called for warmer temperatures on the weekend. In the new world the “experts” are flashing big warnings on the weather channels of an incoming heat “event”.
It’s just the summer arriving for f’s sakes. And it couldn’t come soon enough.
When did 30 degree Celsius temperatures become an event? It’s about time is all I can say. I hope it sticks around a bit.
At least we shouldn’t have too many fires this year – I hope.
Meanwhile the lake is almost flooding and so are the surrounding rivers and streams. More special advisories are being posted.
When did we become so paranoid? It’s like the media has decided to become everyone’s annoying mom that panics at the first sign of something going wrong.
It’s the new normal, over-react to everything to keep everyone safe. I prefer to live and let things happen than worry about what might happen.
As the summer begins I hope for more sunshine and blue skies. I hope everyone can get outside and soak up the beauty of the day.
Happy summer everyone!
