Jan 5 2022 Cabo Wabo

I wish I was writing about seeing Sammy Hagar play at the Cabo Wabo. I wish I was celebrating one last night in Cabo. 

Wishes are for fishes.

Sometimes you catch them and sometimes you don’t. More often you are left empty handed and disappointed. Tonight we got to the front of the line. And that was it. They promised us they would let us in next, when someone left we were in. But then someone left and we didn’t get in. Then more people left and still we were left at the front of the line.

Disappointment and anger surged through me. We waited two hours to see Sammy Hagar play at Cabo Wabo in Cabo San Lucas. We got so close. Then we were left disappointed.

 I will never set foot in the over-priced over-hyped bar again. 

It was bad enough we made it to the front but to be told we would be let in in time to see the rock legend that owned the bar and then told sorry you can’t come in until it was over.

I was pissed.

At least my daughter went home earlier. I wish we had not waited in line at all.

I hate lines.

But there I was for 2 hours. And then to get so close and be denied. I will get over it… but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

More first world problems I know.

At least not getting in saved me from spending any money there. The place is very over-priced and over-hyped. But still Sammy Hagar is a rock star I liked, I wanted to see play some music. He was honored with being a tourism ambassador for Cabo and then he came to his famous bar to play. I guess we should have lined up earlier. Yet they never warned the people in line he was only there for a short time. If I had know he was only going to play for 30 minutes I wold not have wasted my last night in Cabo waiting in line. 

Like I say – first world problems. 

I did my best to let go of my anger, to make the most of the night. 

When the band at the Jungle Bar played a Led Zeppelin song followed by an Iron Maiden song I felt better. Music has the power to unite, to heal. I learned my lesson and will not take the time to wait in line for an aging rock star again. Next time I will spend the time in the here and now.

Tomorrow is a new day. and the sun will be warm above our world.
